NSNA's
59 Day Halt Challenge
Halt! Stop right there!
Are you feeling like you need to improve your health in more ways than one?
NSNA wants to encourage you to do it with us. We want to invite you to take the 59 Day Challenge to extend your horizons and improve your health in any way you feel it can be improved. Take the Challenge and share with NSNA the ways you chose to be healthier in 2011!
As future healthcare professionals, we all know how important it is to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Most of us would benefit from incorporating changes and taking other positive steps to move towards a healthier lifestyle during the coming year. These steps are not limited to weight loss alone. Positive changes can be as simple as getting more sleep each night. Changes may range from smoking cessation, to seeking out and maintaining healthy relationships, or making healthier choices about the food and beverages we consume. The 2010 NSNA Resolution #8 titled, In Support of Increased Education in Self-care Awareness for Nursing Students and Nurses was adopted by the NSNA House of Delegates in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, April 7-10, 2010. Resolution #8 renewed NSNA’s policy to support and advocate for self-care by all nursing students.
Between January 6, 2010 and April 6, 2011 make healthy choices for at least 59 days prior to the 2011 NSNA 59th Annual Convention.
Join the NSNA Halt Challenge by noting on the tracking calendar what type of healthy choices you made each day, every couple of days, etc. Then bring your completed calendar with the signed release form to the NSNA Convention Office in Salt Lake City to earn a Challenge Certificate to honor your self-care achievements.
Lifestyle changes and healthy habits are often not easy to start and challenging to maintain. Committing to self-care and following through for at least 59 days, reinforces the change and can help you continue long after the 2011 Convention passes!
