On February 14, ten MCPHS Nursing students spread some Valentine’s Day love to residents of Tatnuck Park assisted living in Worcester. The event was a festive affair where residents decorated cookies, made personalized Valentines, and sang several songs. The highlight of the event was when students and residents joined in for a heartfelt rendition of Frankie Valli’s Can't Take My Eyes Off You. Students began a partnership with the facility in 2010, providing monthly information sessions that provide health education in a fun way. Recent events have included a heart-healthy Thanksgiving cooking class, a morning exercise group, and a holiday celebration where the residents trimmed trees, caroled, and made customized holiday cards.

During November, the NSNA at the MCPHS Worcester Campus with help from fellow classmates worked with The Salvation Army of Worcester to collect items for Thanksgiving Dinner Baskets for families in need in the area.  Items needed for the baskets included a turkey with all the trimmings such as gravy, vegetables, stuffing, cranberry sauce, rolls, dessert, and plates and napkins.  In order to make the baskets unique we decided to include decorations for the families to use for Thanksgiving including candles and a tablecloth, a greeting card signed by the Nursing Class of 2011, gifts for the children to play with which included crayons, coloring books, reading books, and crafts, and sparkling cider for the family to enjoy.  The event was a success with more than enough items collected to fill two large laundry baskets full of goodies for families of need in the Worcester area.
